Prof. Haitao Ye

Prof. Haitao Ye is the Chair of Materials Engineering at the University of Leicester. He also serves as the Director of Research in the School of Engineering and the Lead for the Key Funders Working Group - European Programme within the College of Science and Engineering. His research focuses on thin films and coatings, devices and sensors, and antimicrobial materials for advanced engineering and healthcare applications. In addition, Prof. Ye is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Functional Diamond. He has secured research funding from prestigious organizations such as EPSRC, EU-FP7, EU-H2020, the Royal Society, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and the British Council. His groundbreaking work on nanodiamond additives to facilitate cold water cleaning, which holds significant promise for energy savings in the global laundry industry, has garnered international media attention. Prof. Ye was the recipient of the 2021 UK Royal Society APEX Fellowship Award. He has published over 100 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. He has been invited to deliver a public lecture at Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition in 2023 and at UK in Space Festival at National Space Centre in 2022. He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Materials, Minerals, and Mining.
